The Knicks have signed free agent center Nerlens Noel to a 1-year deal.

Noel was the 6th pick in the 2013 NBA draft and placed third in Rookie of the Year voting that year. He averaged 7.4 points and 4.9 rebounds on 18.5 minutes for the Oklahoma City Thunder last season.

Noel is a great defender and could be a fantastic backup to Mitchell Robinson. After striking out on a number of top-tier free agents, it looks like the Knicks are prioritizing defensive minded players on short-term deals to fill out their roster. Noel becomes the 4th Kentucky player to join the roster who played under assistant coach, Kenny Payne (Julius Randle, Kevin Knox and Immanuel Quickley are the others).

With the one-year signings of Alec Burks, Elfrid Payton, and Nerlens Noel, fans should expect another year of development while the front office eyes the 2021 free agent class. Watch CP’s reaction to the recent signings plus fans call in with their opinions on the direction of the team!
